What is a Fund-A-Need?
This is a special bidding time during our live auction. People raise their bid numbers in order to contribute funds to a very specific, identified project.
What projects have been funded in years past?
Theatre/Drama equipment, Outdoor Learning Spaces, Puget Sound Boat Exploration Trips, and IPADs & updated Microscopes to emphasize the T in our E-STEM program.
What is the FAN for this year?
For the 2016 auction we are in the second year of a two year FAN capital campaign to fund awesome environmental features that will be included in our new Hazel Wolf K-8 school building. Only now, while the school is under construction, do we have this unique opportunity to incorporate additional environmental learning opportunities into the building that go beyond what the School District can use public funds to create. This new construction affords us a chance to have a lasting impact, assuring that our building truly complements our E-STEM program and offers features our students can use in their studies of environmental energy production, air, and water systems.
This FAN is comprised of three key components. A beautiful living wall will be the prominent feature of the school’s lobby and immediately make a bold statement about the values and focus of the Hazel Wolf E-STEM Program. It uses a variety plants to filter and treat collected water from roof run-off and also help condition the buildings air. On the roof, PV Solar electric panels will be installed for energy production and study, with integrated computer monitoring for our science curriculum. And due to the amazing support during our first year of the campaign, we are working to add a small roof-top wind turbine for energy production and comparison study with the photovoltaic cells.
A BIG thank you and recognition for all of our contributors!
At our 2016 auction we will celebrate our success over the first year of the campaign and highlight our goals for this year. Our Fund-A-Need donors so far will be recognized, and of course there will be another opportunity for all of our families and guests to join in this unique effort.
To acknowledge the generosity of our Hazel Wolf K-8 community, the PTSA is going to permanently recognize your gifts with a beautiful donor wall featuring a northwest scene - a tall evergreen with a winding stream of salmon watched over by the forest residents. Donors giving over $4000 will receive a one-of-a-kind piece like a wolf, or perhaps an owl or eagle. Gifts over $2500 will be recognized with a salmon in the stream. Leaves in the tree are available for $1000 (Gold), $500 (Silver), and $250 (Bronze). To be sure more families have an opportunity to be part of this legacy, all gifts over $50 will be commemorated on a plaque along the base.
How much did I donate last year and can I add to my amount this year?
Yes! You can add to your donation this year. Some families made a one-time contribution while others chose monthly amounts. Early next year we will follow up with all families that previously contributed. We will review your current donation amount and instructions for making an additional donation. Or you can come to the auction and raise your paddle again! We will add it to your amount from last year and make sure you are on the donor tree at the level of your full donation.
